The 1980s: The Spicy Farm Wife's Cheat-Code Life

Wan Yun, a modern fashion designer, is reborn in 1979 as a young woman in northern China’s Hongqi Production Brigade, infamous for all the wrong reasons and about to be married. The moment she wakes, she finds herself in dire straits: she has been caught stealing grain, her fiancé has called off the engagement, her uncle and aunt mistreat her, and her younger sister sabotages her. At the critical moment, her ancestral jade pendant activates a personal space containing black soil, a spirit spring, and the clothing patterns she designed in her previous life. It becomes the key to her comeback.

She uses the spirit spring to improve her family’s life and grow out-of-season crops for extra income. With her superb skills, she alters clothes and takes commissions, progressing from a stall in the black market to opening a clothing workshop. Riding the wave of reform and opening up, she expands her business to the special economic zones in the south. Along the way, she gives her awful relatives a face-slapping lesson and deals with rivals who copy her designs. She also goes from misunderstandings to falling in love with Lu Tingzhou, a demobilized soldier and commune official, who remains her steadfast support. In the end, Wan Yun helps her younger brother get into university and realizes her own potential. She builds a successful fashion business amid the currents of the 1980s, starts a happy family with Lu Tingzhou, makes up for the regrets of her previous life, and becomes a brilliant figure of the golden age.
