The Legendary Life of an Orphan Turned Master Physician

In 1934, disaster struck a family of martial artists and doctors in Handan.

His father worked himself to death in an epidemic zone, his grandfather fell on an anti-Japanese battlefield, and his mother died of grief.

Nine-year-old Yang Tianyou clutches the family’s ancestral steel saber, forced to watch as his younger siblings are sent away.

From then on, he wanders alone, surviving by chewing frozen earth on the snowy plains of the Northeast…

Then, at thirteen…

He follows a “poor man’s army” for three days and nights.

He risks his life for a gun and a uniform,

And awakens an astonishing talent amid the flames of war:

While treating wounded soldiers, he uses childhood memories of herbal medicine to stop their bleeding.

During the Battle of Tashan, the fifteen-year-old braves a hail of bullets to deliver medicine.

One needle decides life or death, earning him the nickname: “If the King of Hell wants someone, he’ll have to ask Yang the Little Devil.”

When the smoke clears, he trades his uniform for a white coat.

At the Harbin entrance exams, he draws on his battlefield experience to solve difficult questions in Western medicine.

At a consultation in Beijing, his three-finger pulse diagnosis astonishes the highest levels of government.

In a humble room in Zhuhai, he uses his original drug-delivery technique to bring critically ill patients back from the brink.

At a clinic in New Zealand, foreign patients kneel and beg for the care of these “miracle hands from the East.”

But he never forgets…

Did his younger siblings, sent away in the snow, survive?

Can the family’s hundred-catty ancestral saber regain its former glory?

Under the solitary lamp of a rented room, a ninety-two-year-old man runs his fingers over a 1988 medical record:

“Lei Biru, survived for ten years and three months…”

Neon lights outside shimmer like a river of stars, while the sign on the door stands firm like a monument.

All his life, he has used silver needles as his brush and his lineage as ink,

Writing an epic of healing and salvation in a land torn apart by war!
