Ashes of Klos

Ling Ye, a time appraiser from the lower classes, is forced to steal the mysterious relic “Ashes of Chronos” to save his critically ill younger sister, Ling Xi.

After succeeding, Ling Ye is hunted by Cang Xuan, the supreme leader of the Time Administration. During his flight, he alternates between cooperation and conflict with Yin Mei, a seductive femme fatale with hidden motives. He gradually discovers that the divine artifact he acquired can manipulate time, and step by step unravels the lies behind the time-trading system.

Ling Ye uncovers a shocking truth: the Time Administration is not simply an oppressor. It is using the lifespans of everyone in the city to power a massive device, keeping at bay a “spatiotemporal aberration” capable of destroying the world. This aberration is itself the result of a temporal paradox caused by the device.

A final battle erupts between Ling Ye, Yin Mei’s rebel forces, and Cang Xuan’s defenders. Ling Ye faces a choice between maintaining an exploitative order and unleashing chaos that would destroy everyone.

Ling Ye rejects both options and chooses to sacrifice himself. He merges with the “Ashes of Chronos,” becoming a new “anchor in time.” By absorbing the spatiotemporal aberration, he stabilizes the timeline and frees everyone who was enslaved. The world is saved, and his sister survives, but he becomes an existence beyond time. The ending leaves the story open, hinting that his sacrifice may have brought about new and unknown variables.
