Kane, a young man in the subsidence zone, is targeted by the world's ruler, the "Bureau", because of his natural ability to appease "reality distortions". During his escape, he met Eve, a rebellious archivist from the upper world, and learned that the world was heading for destruction due to "source code decay." In order to protect themselves and save the world, they decided to find the legendary "Core of Creation".
With the help of an old man who was both an enemy and a friend, the two sneaked into the "Sky City", the headquarters of the command bureau, and tried to steal the map of the "Core of Creation". They encountered a trap set by Valens, the leader of the bureau, and learned that the "Creation Core" might be the switch that destroys the world. After experiencing betrayal and sacrifice, they strengthened their faith and embarked on a journey to the forbidden "Aberration Wasteland".
The two traveled through the perilous and distorted wasteland, and had a decisive battle with Valens who was pursuing them on the road to the "Core of Creation". Finally, in front of the "Creation Core", Kane learned that repairing the world required sacrificing himself. He rejected Valens' proposal to "seal" and gave up the option of "reconstructing" the world. He chose to merge with the "source code" and become the new guardian of the world, quelling all disasters.
Kane's consciousness is with the world, the old order collapsed, and the new world began to be rebuilt with the efforts of Eve and others. While sorting out the data left by Kane, Eve discovered a mysterious signal from the depths of the universe, suggesting that a greater crisis or opportunity was coming, leaving the story with an open ending.
