I’m a Poor Landlord in Bianjing

He woke up to find himself Zheng Leou, a low-rent landlord in Bianjing with just three drafty, dilapidated houses to his name.

Using modern marketing techniques, he renovated the properties and introduced the concept of "move-in ready" rentals, stunning the neighborhood. Tenants soon packed the place, attracting the jealous attention of local thugs.

His bookkeeper noticed how precisely he calculated rental income and secretly presented the ledger to the Vice Minister of Revenue.

The chancellor was struggling to push through reforms. When he spotted the clever ideas of "installment payments" and "commercial real estate" in the ledger, he summoned Zheng Leou late that night.

"Mr. Zheng, your methods could save the realm!" the chancellor exclaimed, gripping both his hands. "Tomorrow, at court, make your case for the future of housing across the land!"

Gazing down at the assembled officials, Zheng Leou pulled the memorial titled "The Great Song Urban Renewal Plan" from his sleeve.
