Echoes of the Eternal City

In Aetelberg, a city powered by memory, the past can be sold, skills can be purchased, and happiness has a fixed price. Kyle, a memory weaver living in the lower city's “Gray Zone,” earns his living repairing other people's broken pasts, yet his own past is a complete blank.

A commission from a mysterious noblewoman named Ilara drags him into a deadly whirlpool. A memory crystal violently erased from existence is not only the key to the highest secrets of the power center known as the Clocktower, but is also intricately connected to Kyle's lost identity.

As pursuit by the “Chronology Watch” closes in and former allies reveal their true faces, Kyle is forced to flee for his life through a city of interwoven light and shadow. Whose memories has he really been repairing? The Clocktower rulers' unspeakable evidence of their crimes, or his own buried soul?

In this war with memory as the stake, he must confront one ultimate question: if your past can be rewritten, what defines your existence?
