I Wield a Sword That Shakes the Mountains and Rivers

Liang Xiao is the young heir of the Marquis of Zhenbei’s household. His father, Liang Yu, was granted the title of Marquis of Zhenbei of the Great Yan Kingdom for his illustrious military service, and the title was to pass down through the generations. In the 138th year of the Great Yan calendar, Tuo Ba Buhua, leader of the northern nomadic tribes, persuaded several other tribes to gather eighty thousand cavalry and invade Great Yan from the south. They burned and looted their way across the land, capturing two cities in just seven days. When the emperor of Great Yan received the report, he immediately issued an edict appointing Marquis of Zhenbei Liang Yu as General of the Northern Campaign and placing him in command of a hundred thousand cavalry. After more than three months, Liang Yu finally defeated the northern tribes and forced their leaders, headed by Tuo Ba Buhua, to surrender. They signed an alliance, in which the tribes pledged allegiance to Great Yan and agreed to pay annual tribute, while Great Yan opened border markets. Despite these glorious victories, the Marquis of Zhenbei was falsely accused of colluding with the enemy and betraying the country by Chancellor Cai Jing and others. The entire marquis’s household was sentenced to execution. Fearing the power of the treacherous Chancellor Cai Jing, most loyal ministers and generals at court dared not plead the Marquis of Zhenbei’s case. Only Minister of Justice Sun Jiongshen and General Du Chongming submitted petitions asking the emperor to investigate. But the officials of the Court of Judicial Review were Cai Jing’s protégés. In the end, under the fabricated charge of “some crime or other,” the Marquis’s entire household was sentenced to execution at the hour of the horse. At the last moment, ten-year-old young heir Liang Xiao escaped in the family carriage with the help of the household coachman, Lu Tuotuo. The imperial guards pursued them all the way to the foot of Kunlun Mountain, only to discover that the hunchbacked Lu Tuotuo was actually a top hidden expert of the household. The martial artists Cai Jing sent after them all perished. From then on, young heir Liang Xiao embarks on a life in the martial world, gradually growing into a great hero who champions the good, punishes the wicked, and protects the country and its people.
