I Sweep Trash in Guixu

My name is Gong Ahua. I used to be a civil servant in the Heavenly Court, and now I’m a sanitation worker in Guixu. My daily routine is sweeping the trash of the Six Realms into the bins and building up enough merit to return and take the civil service exam, while also pursuing the god so handsome he makes my soul swoon. But today, I took a private job: pretending to marry a dead man. We held the ceremony at noon, using a coffin as the bridal sedan. I cried louder than the suona horns. Then a pale hand burst out of the earth and grabbed my wrist. The “dead man” in the grave flashed a dazzling smile. “Wife, I forgot to write my will.” I looked at the face that had stood me up on our wedding night three hundred years ago, and the hundred thousand points of yin virtue I’d just earned instantly lost their appeal. Because he pulled out the plague switch and asked me gently, “Marry me, or the whole city gets buried with me. Which will it be?”
