In Half an Inch of Sunlight

In an old alley deep in the city, the lives of three generations of the Lin family are intertwined like tangled vines, full of emotional knots that are hard to unravel. Lin Zhengde, a retired teacher, suddenly suffers a stroke. Like a stone thrown into a calm lake, the accident stirs up long-buried conflicts in the family. The eldest son, Lin Jianjun, has built a successful career, but years-old misunderstandings have driven a wedge between him and his father. The younger daughter, Lin Xiaomei, is facing cracks in her marriage, yet forces a smile in front of her family.

As life’s burdens suddenly bear down on them, past grievances, private worries, and real-world hardships intertwine. Their mother, Zhao Xiulan, keeps the family balanced amid the daily grind. Lin Jianjun struggles between his responsibilities and the resentment he still holds, while Lin Xiaomei reexamines herself in light of her marriage and family ties. Through repeated clashes and moments of understanding, they gradually realize that family bonds may be fraught with bumps, but family will always be one another’s warmest source of support. The stories beneath one roof hold tears and arguments, but also hope and love rising through hardship.
