Day and Night With You

【Marital Duties + Marriage on a Whim, Exclusive Devotion, Not Both Pure in Reality + Secret Crush】 Seven years ago, Lu Chengyu first saw Lin Qingyan at a design exhibition. Standing in the sunlight, she spoke about how “architecture should become the city’s breath.” The light in her eyes burned itself into his memory for seven years. Seven years later, under the pretext of “a resource exchange,” he offered her a two-year marriage contract: “We will fulfill our marital duties regularly, stay out of each other’s affairs, and divorce when the term ends.” He knew it was a despicable way to get close to her, but he was staking all his courage on it. Lin Qingyan looked at the clause about upgrading the qualifications of Qingzhu Design Studio and signed without hesitation. To her, Lu Chengyu was a calm, restrained business partner, and their marriage was the most practical deal two adults could make. Their “duties,” performed a few times a month according to schedule, were followed by polite thanks, after which she would turn around and keep fighting for her dreams. She just hadn’t counted on the man who always said, “Let’s stick to the contract,” gradually letting uncontrolled kisses, feverish body heat, and embraces he couldn’t resist in the middle of the night seep into those mechanical “duties.” When she found the box he had hidden for seven years in his study, filled with her design sketches, old photographs, and even a diary covered in her name, she finally understood: this marriage, though it began with a contract, had never been a transaction. Lu Chengyu caught her hand, his eyes red-rimmed. “Lin Qingyan, I can’t keep pretending anymore. From the first moment I saw you seven years ago, all I wanted was to keep you with me for the rest of my life.”
