I Met You at Just the Right Time

[Modern Realism + Healing + Emotional Redemption + Slow Burn] Su Wan’s flower shop, Evening Fragrance, sits at the corner of an old neighborhood. It is her refuge from the shadows of her family. Then Lu Zhiheng appears with redevelopment plans in hand. The aloof architect wants her to move out, and for the first time, the little corner filled with flowers, plants, and the warmth of the neighbors faces the threat of collapse. He came to “tear down” her world, yet whenever they argued, he would crouch to pick up the petals she had dropped. She built high walls to keep him out, but on a stormy night, she saw him braving the rain to protect her flower stand. His plans held a tenderness for the old neighborhood; her bouquets carried her stubborn love of life. As her family tightens its grip once more, and his project runs into trouble because he refuses to abandon his principles, two wounded people begin to glimpse a glimmer of light in each other’s vulnerability. He shields her from unreasonable demands and says, “From now on, I’ll protect you.” She adds floral designs to his blueprints and says, “Give it a chance, and give us one too.” When hydrangeas bloom across the old neighborhood courtyard, he confesses among the flowers: “I used to pursue permanence in architecture. Now I understand that being able to watch the flowers bloom and fade with you is what home means.” This is a story about healing: a prickly first meeting, a gradual thaw, and, at last, wounds blossoming into flowers amid the warmth of everyday life.
