Wolf in the Shadows, a Game in the Cards

[Mystery + Detective Fiction + Ensemble Cast + Clever Characters + No System] In the twenty-third year of the Republic, former detective Shen Yanzhi receives a mysterious invitation: “On the night of the full moon, meet me at Wolf Mountain. Come to an unfinished game.” Its writing is stained with eerie watermarks, uncannily like the handwriting of a victim in the “Werewolf Case” from three years ago. The crescent-shaped scar on his left hand suddenly begins to burn, bringing back the mystery of his younger sister Shen Qingwu’s disappearance five years earlier. The half of a brass wolf token she was clutching when she vanished fits the gap in the watermark on the invitation. Seven people answer the invitation and climb Wolf Mountain. On an isolated island shrouded in fog, a gloomy inn holds a web of mysteries: a bloodied “wolf” carved into the wall, seven eerie red lanterns, and old photographs of guests who look exactly like the people staying there... A game of Werewolf, woven into reality, quietly begins. On the full moon, a “sacrifice” recreates a century-old death. The Seer’s investigation reveals the deepest secrets, while the Witch’s poison gives rise to restless ghosts. As murders multiply at the inn, a smuggling network called the Wolf Alliance comes to light. Everyone is hiding behind a mask: the black-clad landlady seeking redemption, the scar-faced man playing a double game, and the woman in the qipao plotting with a fake antidote... Guided by the burning pain of his scar, Shen Yanzhi pieces together the connection between his sister’s disappearance and the “Werewolf Case,” only to discover that there are no villagers in this game. He, too, is a pawn. When a miniature ledger hidden inside the wolf token reveals the ultimate truth, who will be the last werewolf in the final showdown on the night of the full moon? And what secret buried deep in Wolf Mountain’s caves could overturn everything?
