When Purple and Gold Are Reconstructed: The Secret of Time and Space

Lin Chen, a basketball fan from 2025, transmigrates by chance and becomes the general manager of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2015. The Lakers are mired in a slump, Kobe Bryant is plagued by injuries, and the team's rebuilding plans have no clear direction. Drawing on his knowledge of the next ten years of the NBA, Lin Chen turns down D'Angelo Russell, the pick favored by outside observers, and makes a bold trade to secure the fourth pick, selecting Kristaps Porzingis despite the jeers of New York fans. He also snatches up tenth pick Devin Booker, planting the seeds of the Lakers' revival. Again and again, he defies convention: he persuades Kobe to give up on retirement and mentor the rookies; signs Rajon Rondo and pioneers the unique role of “player-coach,” using his veteran savvy to connect the young talents; gives up the second pick in 2016 to acquire Nikola Jokic, then still stuck on Denver's bench; and, on draft night in 2017, precisely targets Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell, building a core lineup that terrifies the league. From the doubts echoing through the Staples Center to the thunderous cheers of the home crowd, from the stumbles of the preseason to the blood-soaked battles of the playoffs, Lin Chen watches Booker hone his killer instinct, Porzingis grow into a towering force on both ends of the court, and Jokic become a magician with the ball. He also witnesses Kobe put the perfect finishing touch on his career with a game-winning shot in the 2018 Finals. Winning the championship isn't the end, but a new beginning. Kobe becomes a head coach, bringing the Mamba Mentality to the playbook. Lin Chen remains at the helm of the front office, continuing his precise team-building philosophy. This “Purple and Gold Legion,” gifted by the twists of time, advances step by step through doubt and anticipation, ultimately ushering in a dynasty of its own.
