The Ink Guards Awaken: Masters of the Rift in Time and Space

Lin Mo, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, accidentally transmigrates during an experiment with a “spacetime rift” and becomes a scion of a dynasty caught in a maelstrom of political intrigue. The engraving “2025.4.17” on his waterproof watch and the gear-shaped birthmark on the back of his neck perfectly match historical records of the “Commander of the Ink Guard,” revealing his special identity as a “spacetime anchor.”

In a water dungeon, he uses the reflection from his watch to stage a divine “pardon from Heaven” and escape. At the Imperial Medical Academy, he crushes amoxicillin to shatter a thousand-year-old belief that consumption is incurable. In the accounts office, double-entry bookkeeping exposes every corrupt figure. When he establishes the Ink Guard, he trains his deathsworn with Morse code, improves the repeating crossbow with ball bearings, and combines modern fitness training with Mohist mechanical arts to create the first “army of practical science.”

As a star-chart token taken from wolf-rider spies and a “third year of Yonghui” pocket watch from his uncle’s secret chamber emerge one after another, the prophecy of the “Day of Guixu,” when two moons shine together, draws near. When concrete bastions rise in the Gobi and volleys of firearms tear through the iron hooves of the cavalry, Lin Mo discovers that every modern invention he has made corresponds to the star-chart paths in the Dunhuang murals. This counterattack, written with counting rods and microscopes, has long been a relay across a thousand years, and the waterproof watch in his hand points to the final key to closing the rift.

This is no simple comeback. It is a researcher’s path to breaking free, carved through political intrigue and spacetime rifts with formulas and reason. As counting rods inscribe Arabic numerals and microscopes reveal plots involving poison and germs, a dynasty belonging to the seekers of practical knowledge begins turning anew, amid the symphony of gears and ink-black lotuses.
