Neon Shadows of Shanghai

1932, Shanghai, during the Republic of China era. Night spread like ink, and the city lights came on. Brilliant neon flickered along the Bund, its vivid colors reflected on the Huangpu River. Far-off pleasure boats and the stone steps along the bank formed a striking contrast between the bustling city and the tranquil water. Shanghai, the Paris of the East, was cloaked in an air of unease beneath the mist and rain. Known as the “Ten-Mile Foreign Concession,” the city was also consumed by hidden evils. Behind its glittering nightlife lurked one mystery after another, concealed from the world. Mei Qingni was one of the few female detectives on the Shanghai Bund. She wore no fancy clothes and relied on neither her father nor her brothers for influence. With nothing but her keen eyes and sharp powers of deduction, she had carved out a place for herself in the underworld. Calm, decisive, and intelligent, she solved every case like a sculptor carving jade, peeling away layer after layer of fog until the light of truth emerged.
