The Great Song Dynasty's Censor: A Fantasy Mystery

Jiangzhou Prefecture, Qingxi Town, lay shrouded in mist and drizzle. On Qingxi Bridge at the town entrance, several constables stood in the fine rain with grim expressions. Beneath the bridge, the stream rushed by, and the indistinct shape of a corpse could just be made out floating on the water. “Hurry! Get the body out!” The constable in charge waved his men into action, heedless of the rain soaking his clothes. The water was freezing. Several burly men gritted their teeth and waded in, working together to haul the corpse ashore. The townspeople gathered on the bank murmured among themselves. “Tsk, how did someone end up dead beneath this bridge?” “Could the current have carried them here?” “I heard Liang, the scholar from the east end of town, has been missing for days. Could it be him?”
