Synopsis

Sun Wukong sees a thousand years into the future and learns what is to come. Determined to escape the fate laid out for him, he sets out to defy destiny! As a result, the entire world of Journey to the West changes dramatically. Li Jing’s pagoda shatters by accident. The Peach Banquet loses the Great Sage who would have wreaked havoc in Heaven, but gains Nezha, who hunts down the Heavenly King instead. After the Peach Banquet, Nezha is suppressed in Southern Jambudvipa. Seeing through the plot behind the pilgrimage west, Sun Wukong then guides Nezha on the journey to fetch the scriptures. And so, the pilgrimage west takes a very strange turn. After being fitted with the tightening fillet, Nezha says, “You bald donkey, you dared to ambush me? Today, I’ll gouge out my own skull if that’s what it takes to stab you to death!” At Eagle Sorrow Ravine, Nezha says, “You dare eat my horse? And it’s a white dragon, too? Nobody knows better than me how to deal with dragons!” At Gao Village, Nezha says, “You abducted a woman, and you even know that old geezer Li Jing? You deserve to die!” At Flowing Sand River, Nezha says, “He’s got nine skulls hanging around his neck. He’s obviously no good. Kill him!” At Golden-Wheel Cave, Nezha says, “That ring is powerful. We’ll have to get that old geezer… I mean, Old Li to help!” At Lion Camel Ridge, Nezha says, “These three monsters have some real skill. Great Sage, help me out!” After the scriptures are retrieved, Nezha says, “Those bald monks aren’t honorable. They gave us blank scriptures?” Sun Wukong replies, “Isn’t that even better? You can write whatever you want!” And so the two exchange a knowing smile…
