Sword Blossoms Like a Rainbow

Synopsis of Gu Long’s wuxia novel Sword Blossoms Like a Rainbow: The sun rose, and morning light pierced the clouds, scattering countless golden scales across the boundless blue sea. It was the third dawn since Liu Hanyan had set sail. Over the past two days, Liu Hanyan had occasionally sat cross-legged in the cabin to regulate his breathing and circulate his energy, yet he remained vibrant and handsome, without a trace of fatigue. The old fisherman, however, had been at the helm day and night for two whole days, never once daring to close his eyes. Though the old fisherman was in his sixties and had spent his life making a living at sea, battling raging waves until his body was stronger than most, he was still only flesh and blood, not iron and steel. His strength had its limits, and now he was visibly unsteady, utterly exhausted. Yet for this peerless hero, whom he admired beyond measure, he continued to force himself onward. Liu Hanyan had urged him several times to lie down and rest, offering to take the helm himself, but the old fisherman had politely refused, saying Liu Hanyan knew nothing of the sea and was not skilled at handling a boat.
