Introduction to the Gu Long martial arts novel The Ink Feather and Green Steed: The title refers to the alliance sworn to overthrow the Qing and restore the Ming, as well as to the master and disciple Zhu Runbo and Yue Longfei. “Green Steed” also refers to the fine horse that “White Bone Fan” Ouyang Ping gave to Leng Bingxin, beloved disciple of “Wumeng Snake Lady” Shao Hanyan, after falling in love with her at first sight. The title seems ill-chosen, as it fails to encompass the entire story. When the book was later reprinted, it was retitled The Ink Feather and Dragon Flight, a name that fits much better. When Yue Longfei first enters the martial world, he immediately clashes with the Qing court's henchmen. “Ghost Staff Immortal” Tu Yuanzhi is recruited by the Qing court as a retainer and tasked with training a hundred-strong unit of “Black-Clad Iron Guards.” Meanwhile, “South Sea Poison Dragon” Li Fanghe and “Ghost Staff Immortal” Tu Yuanzhi conspire to slaughter the righteous heroes resisting the Qing in one fell swoop.
