"Teahouse" is Lao She's representative drama collection, which includes his famous dramas "Teahouse", "Longxugou" and "Treasure Ship". "Teahouse" is a classic in the history of Chinese drama, created in 1956. The play uses the rise and fall of a large teahouse called Yutai in old Beijing as the background. It shows the social landscape of Beijing and the life changes of different characters from all walks of life in the nearly 50 years from the late Qing Dynasty to the Beiyang Warlord period to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. Each scene describes an era. People from all walks of life in Beijing, from all walks of life, come in and out of this big teahouse.
