Warhammer 40K: Doomguy, the Emperor Redeems Me

Du Mu plunged headfirst into the Warp, right to the doorstep of the four Chaos Gods in Warhammer 40K. The System immediately uninstalled itself and ran off. Du Mu was halfway through cursing it when it shoved one last gift at him: a mass of dark-red essence, a fragment of the Doom Slayer's very nature.

The next second, the Well of Eternity erupted. Du Mu's soul, wrapped in red light, shot out of the well. Tzeentch reached out to grab it and shrieked as he was burned, while the entire Crystal Labyrinth shook. Khorne, Nurgle, and Slaanesh descended at once. The four gods joined forces to pin down this mysterious soul: pure, immaculate, and radiating an aura of primordial fury. Even the Chaos Gods could not look directly upon its nature. As ten thousand years passed in the Warp, Du Mu devoured energy like a madman on the borderlands of the four gods, rising from a mortal soul to demigod level. The four gods worked together to build an 800-meter-tall brass tower and imprison him inside, taking turns assigning greater daemons to watch him. None dared claim him for themselves. Then a figure wreathed in golden light descended: the Master of Mankind, the Emperor himself, came to the heart of Chaos and signed a pact with the four gods, trading twenty divine sparks for Du Mu's soul.

The Emperor lowered his gaze to the pulsing red glow in his palm and said softly:

"The Doom Slayer's rage. You'd better live up to that name."
