Film and TV: From the Start in Story of Minglan, I Marry Hualan and Make Daiyu My Sister

Lin Yi is thrust into the turmoil of a world where The Story of Minglan and Dream of the Red Chamber intertwine. From the start, he faces hellish difficulty: his father is dead, a child has been entrusted to his care, and others covet his family fortune.

Everyone says the Lin family is doomed. But he tears up the imperial-examination script others have laid out for him, conceals a fortune in wealth and the twelve Earthly Branches' elite assassins he has secretly raised, and turns his gaze toward the flames of war and clashing blades on the northern frontier. After three years of mourning, he breaks through to the pinnacle of the Grandmaster realm with a single sword stroke. Before setting out, he settles his young sister Daiyu in the capital, shielding her from the Jia family's soul-devouring mire and promising her a life of freedom, never having to worry about anyone else's opinion.

Then, under the expectant gaze of Hualan of the Sheng family, he solemnly promises, "When I return from the frontier, I'll bring you a wedding procession ten miles long."

From The Story of Minglan to Dream of the Red Chamber, the road to power runs alongside the glinting blades of the princely mansion. When Lin Yi's hidden plans finally come to light, the young man who set out from Yangzhou is no longer fighting merely for a marriage alliance with the Sheng family, but for the power to rule the entire realm.
