The Fragrant Road

Based on a certain border port, this novel follows its efforts to implement the country's Belt and Road Initiative, break through bottlenecks in the development of its port economy, and vigorously expand foreign trade and economic cooperation.

The novel focuses on a new generation of grassroots officials, represented by Jiang Dalu, the newly appointed Party secretary of Xupin County. Highly educated, energetic, and broad-minded, they are thoughtful and dare to break with rigid thinking. When faced with a border gate on the verge of closure, they keenly seize the opportunity offered by the country's Belt and Road development strategy, restore the glory of the border port economy, and bring real prosperity to the people of the region. They face obstruction, interference, and sabotage from both within and without. Will they stay true to their original ideals or go with the flow? Will they venture through the border gate or cling to the old ways? Will they dare to lead or cower in fear? Will they fight for the people or carve a path through bloodshed? Scene after scene is both tragic and harrowing, stirring the heart and bringing tears to the eyes.
