The Plainclothes Policewoman

One rainy night in 2006, in Nanshan Town, Jianghai City, policewoman Yang Yongshan was on duty at the Nanshan Police Station when an anonymous tip came in about a fugitive. She went to discuss it with her mentor, Zheng Tianhua. The pair decided to head out into the rain, but Yang Yongshan took the wrong alley, and her mentor was brutally slashed across the throat by the criminal.

When Director Jiang of the Municipal Public Security Bureau heard about the case, he was furious. He spearheaded the formation of the city's first plainclothes squad and announced a special campaign against robbery, snatching, and theft. After Yang Yongshan caught a thief on a bus and earned the public's gratitude, Squad Leader Xu Guohao selected her for the plainclothes squad. She also trained under Lu Zhiqiang, famed for his sharp eyes and fleet feet, mastering the skills of catching and identifying thieves. But Yang Yongshan still wanted to investigate the throat-slashing murder of the police officer. Taking an unconventional approach, she tailed a bag snatcher and unexpectedly uncovered a secret fencing operation. It was frequented not only by all kinds of thieves, but also by small-time merchants. The plainclothes squad then entered a cat-and-mouse battle with the gang of robbers and thieves. Who was the culprit behind the police officer's murder all those years ago? Can Yang Yongshan bring the real killer to justice?
