The Acrobat Girl

This is a story of emotional entanglements between an adoptive father and daughter who are unrelated by blood, and between a mother and daughter. It unfolds in two places: the developed coastal city of Zhedong in the east, and the underdeveloped Quanglin County in northern Anhui, in central-eastern China. The heroine, Zhang Haining, depends on her adoptive father. After growing up and learning the truth about her birth, she travels a thousand miles to find her mother, but her search fails. Her mother, weighed down by troubles she cannot speak of, rejects and avoids her again and again, living a wretched life. The heroine refuses to give up. Her mother is growing older by the day, and her body and spirit are nearly broken. Haining is determined to awaken her lost mother with sincerity, even if it takes ten thousand tries. Faced with reality, she decides to return to her adoptive father. Together, they work hard to master acrobatics, and she gradually reaches the pinnacle of success. She becomes famous after performing a father-daughter aerial act in the China Got Talent segment on China Central Television. Even after her career takes off, she never gives up on bringing her birth mother back. Along the way, she also suffers betrayal in love, and her heart is badly wounded. When she is about to take her own life on the Hongqiao Bridge in Changan Town, she meets Luo Shikang, a young male acrobat. Kindhearted Luo, with help from her adoptive father, helps her birth mother overcome her drug addiction and start a new life. But events do not unfold as she imagined. After her adoptive father and birth mother get together and marry, the heroine's own love life remains unresolved. After several twists and turns, she returns to her hometown and, with her adoptive father's help, forms her own acrobatics troupe and makes a name for herself in the Acrobatics Town. Luo Shikang also quits his job and returns with her to their hometown of Changguan Town. Together, they build a brilliant future in acrobatics. At last, they make a pact: after winning the Golden Clown at the International Circus Festival, they will walk down the aisle together.
