The Register of Sins

The fog over Wujiang never lifts. It carries the river's cold, fishy stench through every narrow alley in the old district. Charred bones in an abandoned furnace, bloodstains beneath an echoing wall, a stand-in face before a makeup mirror, a falling shadow on an observation deck... In just a few months, ten bizarre murders have rocked Wujang City. At every crime scene, a hand-folded, faceless paper swallow appears in advance. It never kills anyone, only quietly witnesses death after death, each brought about by humanity's original sins. Chen Ye, head of the major crimes unit, leads the investigation. Forensic pathologist Lin Yan uncovers the causes of death, Old Han unravels the human heart, and newcomer Zhou Xiaoxia follows every clue, closing in step by step. The greedy perish in the furnace's flames, the wrathful are trapped behind high walls, the envious steal another life, and the arrogant fall from a great height... Ten murders, each corresponding to one evil etched into human nature. No one has ever seen the paper folder's true face. Hidden deep in the fog, he never lifts a bloodied blade. He merely stirs the desires buried in people's hearts, letting greed, wrath, envy, pride, sloth, lust, gluttony, betrayal, lies, and indifference take root one by one, until they ripen into tragedies that cannot be undone. When the last paper figure falls and the fog lifts, everyone will see that the most terrifying thing was never the killer, but the sin hidden in every heart.
