Echoes of a Devoured Dream

For nineteen years, Shi Yan had always dreamed strange dreams.

The musty smell of the old library, nursery rhymes in the empty school building, the sound of water at a ferry in an abandoned village... The scenes were as shattered as shards of glass that would never fit together, yet unnervingly real.

The doctor said it was a delusion caused by the trauma of his younger sister's disappearance. The neighbors said the boy had lost his mind. Until one night, when a short circuit set fire to the old shop and a voice he'd waited nineteen years to hear spoke amid the flames.

"You've finally come."

There was no System panel, no beginner's tutorial. Every desperate place he entered was a scene he had repeatedly rehearsed in his dreams.

Dream-eating forms the game; lingering echoes bear witness.

The terrors you dream of in the dead of night have never come from nowhere.

They are the people trapped inside, reaching across the boundary between life and death to show you a way out.
