I Love Killing People in My Dreams

"You've been let go."

Cao Xu, a veteran system planner at a major internet company, was handed a generous severance package.

Just as he thought he was about to begin a long, anxious stretch of unemployment, a mysterious capsule logged him into a 100% realistic, hardcore dream sandbox.

In his dreams, he was a mysterious hunter taking on top-tier bounty missions, skirting the edge of extreme danger as he hunted criminals lurking in the shadows.

When he awoke, he was astonished to find that the hefty bounties he'd earned in the dream had actually been transferred to his real-world bank account! And his finely honed fighting instincts and peak physical fitness had been perfectly replicated in his waking body.

By day, his former colleagues and rich second-generation heirs saw him as a "deadbeat unemployed nobody" living off his severance pay. He drove for a ride-hailing service, made indie games, and enjoyed a laid-back retirement-style life.

By night, he closed his eyes and became a top player feared throughout the dream world's bounty-hunting scene.

Faced with the sneers of snobs, their condescending handouts, and their pointless schemes, Cao Xu looked at the million-dollar balance appearing in his account every day and felt nothing. In fact, he almost wanted to laugh.

"You're still killing yourselves over a monthly salary of a few tens of thousands, while I've turned this trash game called reality into a casual beginner's server for max-level players."
