1985: Starting with a Street Stall Selling Scallion Pancakes

[Period Drama, Slice of Life, Farming, Food]

In 1985, the winds of opportunity for private businesses had already swept through every street and alley. Some people were packing up their stalls, some were setting up shop, and others were struggling to stay afloat.

Cheng Yi transmigrated into this world and took over the original owner's oil-pancake stall, which was barely hanging on.

Business was dismal, debts were piling up, and his relatives and neighbors took turns urging him to give up while he still could. Finding a steady job was the sensible thing to do.

But nobody knew he had a food System called the Food God’s Record. With each recipe he obtained, he would master every aspect of preparing it.

When the oil pancakes came out of the pan once more, the aromas of flour, oil, and scallions mingled and drifted across half the market.

Before long, a long line had formed in front of Cheng Yi's stall.

But he knew full well that this little stall was only the beginning.

Oil pancakes, pan-fried buns, san soup, and secret-recipe braised dishes, followed by wok-braised tofu, sweet-and-sour carp, scallion-braised sea cucumber, Nine-Turn Large Intestine, quick-fried pork tripe and chicken gizzards...

The stove fire never went out, and the warmth of daily life endured.

In an era full of opportunity, Cheng Yi had just one ambition: to make sure his family could eat meat at every meal and enjoy a surplus every year.
