Waiting for the Smoke of War to Clear

Liu Haitian, a frontline special operations commander, has quietly followed the actress Su Wan for years, seeing her only as a distant star shining through the smoke of war. During a break in the field, he happens upon Su Wan, out on a drive to clear her mind, and her best friend Wen Ruan at a campsite in Yunqi Ridge. A campfire dinner, a truth game, and a candid photo on a wooden platform beneath the stars kindle a secret attraction over the course of one night.

After their brief encounter in the mountains, they return to their separate worlds. He is always ready to deploy on high-risk missions, while she is trapped in the noisy entertainment industry. They are repeatedly pulled back and forth, struggling to choose between duty and love.

They make a promise: when the smoke of war has cleared, they will meet again in this world.
