The Broken Bones of a Border Soldier

During the Chongzhen reign, in Bao'an Prefecture, Xuanfu Garrison, Shen Gou'er was a low-ranking border soldier from a military household. His fellow soldiers were framed and died unjustly, while the powerful buried the evidence layer by layer. Shen Gou'er fled for his life, crossing desolate lands and gathering witness testimony and physical evidence wherever he went, repeatedly finding himself in mortal danger. After enduring countless hardships, he finally cleared his comrades’ names amid the bitter northern winds. With the case settled, war fires flared again along the northern frontier. Shen Gou'er defended a ruined border fortress, holding off the grassland cavalry outside while bearing the court’s suspicions and the withholding of food and pay within. The dynasty was on the brink of collapse; the isolated city had no reinforcements and its supplies were exhausted. When the city fell, the soldiers gave their lives for their country, their bones left behind. The fierce wind over the frontier never ceases, and the nameless loyal dead lie buried forever beneath the ruined walls.
