An Archaeologist in the Cthulhu Mythos

Gu Changming, a Peking University archaeology PhD, accidentally plunges into an abyss during an excavation. When he wakes, he finds himself in a strange world. There are steam locomotives and telegraph machines, but people talk about the “Great Old Ones” and “Deep Ones.” He has become a young professor in the archaeology department of Miskatonic University, and his first assignment is to investigate an underwater temple newly exposed by torrential rain. In the world of Cthulhu, archaeology is the most dangerous profession, because archaeologists are closest to the truth. Gu Changming discovers that the copy of The Carbon-14 Dating Handbook he brought with him when he transmigrated seems to have some sort of… indescribable effect in this world.
