Marvel’s Chessboard in the Dark

A nuclear missile hurtles toward the wormhole. Tony Stark, prepared to die, intends to end the Battle of New York single-handedly. Within the azure rift, the Chitauri Army pours through without end, and New York teeters on the brink of destruction. Just as the missile is about to enter the wormhole, a blurred figure appears at the edge of the rift. She wears a long black dress, her features impossible to focus on. A colossal sword of dusk hangs at her side, shrouded in an aura of decay. Her blade falls, and the wormhole is erased like a pencil sketch. The alien army vanishes completely. A golden bird ornament covers her forehead, and the nuclear missile that would have destroyed New York silently disappears. The scorch marks left by the fighting vanish as well. She is Amanises, wielder of the authorities of night, dusk, and death. Carrying the source of the River of Eternal Darkness, she has accidentally fallen into the Marvel Universe. She did not act to save Earth. This is merely the first move in a grand game of chess. The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., Loki: everyone will become a piece in her design.
