Distorted Reality

An accident occurred in Building Eight in the early hours of the morning. As Chen An followed the firefighters downstairs, he suddenly noticed something. There were clearly only six people, yet a seventh person had appeared in the stairwell. Even stranger, everyone but him thought that person had been part of the group all along. Photographs began to change. Memories began to go wrong. People who had been standing right beside them, alive and well, would suddenly vanish from everyone's memories. People who had never existed had complete identities and pasts, even memories of having lived alongside you. Then Chen An received a call from “himself.” There was only one sentence on the other end: “Don't go any farther down.” “You already died on the sixth floor.” Only after that night did Chen An learn the truth. This world wasn't being haunted. Reality itself was becoming distorted. When names, memories, identities, even the fact that you “ever existed” can all be erased, how can anyone prove they are still themselves? Later, the whole world began to forget. Only Chen An still remembered the people who no longer existed.
