Algorithmic Siege

Zhu Tao, a 38-year-old former CTO of a large company, has been appointed as the chief information officer of a leading securities firm with the ideal of "reshaping finance with technology." He thought he was here to take charge, but on the first day he found out that he was just here to take the blame. The CEO shouted at the executive meeting that "digital transformation is the only strategy for the next three years." The business department bosses superficially applauded. After the meeting, the WeChat group exploded. Zhu Tao promoted intelligent investment advisory, and the brokerage business department blocked the data with "compliance risk"; he built a data center, but the old employees of the IT department said "unless the CEO makes the decision"; he hired AI algorithm engineers, but HR said "they can't pay the price of big manufacturers"; he launched an AI investment research assistant, and the chief strategist Lao Zhou directly blamed "there is a problem with the model". One year later, Zhu Tao submitted his resignation application. The CEO persuaded him to stay: "If we persist for another year, the digital transformation will definitely succeed." Zhu Tao said: "It's not that the transformation is unsuccessful, it's that the ship is too heavy and can't turn." After walking out of the company building, he looked back at the "Technology Empowers Finance" sign. The phone rang, and a message came from the headhunter: "There is a financial technology company that wants to meet you. You are doing AI investment research. Do you want to chat?" When the algorithm becomes a besieged city, people in the city want to get out and people outside the city want to come in.
