Synopsis

The Origin: The Ring of Condensed Force is a long-form, hard science fiction novel told in two volumes. Its backdrop is a particle physics experiment at the Chinese Academy of Sciences that detects an anomalous glueball decay signal. The research team derives and leaves behind an important legacy: the “Five Axioms” hypothesis. (The “Five Axioms” and “glueballs disprove materialism” are fictional premises in this novel, not claims equivalent to current scientific consensus.) For decades, generation after generation of researchers have explored the Five Axioms. At last, in the year 2056, thirty years later, researcher Ding Zhongxuan and his team reach a startling conclusion after repeated experiments: matter is not what generates force. Instead, matter is formed when primordial force elements condense. The obsessions of human consciousness can create fields of mental force, and converting these fields can alter the body or even briefly create objects. “Form arises from the mind” and “wishes come true,” along with the magical transformations of ancient mythology, now have a physical explanation. The old systems of science and philosophy collapse, and strange phenomena erupt around the globe. Gui Xu, an ancient modified human who survived the end of the previous civilization, arrives on Earth with a warning about the universe’s “Origin Threshold Cycle.” Another modified human, Lord Jin, advocates deliberately bringing about the universe’s disintegration and travels everywhere collecting the fields of mental force produced by living beings. Theoretical physicist Lu Huai is seduced by the idea of release through reincarnation. Humanity assembles a joint scientific expedition fleet and sets out for mysterious ancient ruins in the Kuiper Belt. A massive crisis begins to unfold... Lord Jin begins harvesting fields of mental force on several colonized planets, intending to trigger the Origin Threshold ahead of time and dissolve all things back into force elements. Ding Zhongxuan refuses to surrender to fate, and an interstellar showdown begins...
