"Fragments of the Han Camp" is the first-person memoir of Shi An, a veteran of the Han army. The peasant boy joined the army at the age of fifteen and went from Hetao to Chang'an, from Changyi to Mobei. He served as a soldier for forty-four years. He witnessed King Youxian's invasion of the border, the chaos of the Seven Kingdoms, the conspiracy of Mayi, the surrender of Hexi, and the decisive battle of Mobei. He witnessed the changes in offensive and defensive positions between the three generations of emperors Han Wen, Han Jing, and Han Wu. He hated betrayal all his life, but he was repeatedly betrayed by Zhao Er, Wei Shi and other people around him. He always responded by defending his territory, his heart, and his promise. There are no illustrious military exploits, only the loyalty and perseverance forged by the flesh and blood of a generation of Han soldiers - written to those brothers who died on the battlefield and never returned home, and also to everyone who is still willing to believe in loyalty.
