Zheng He’s Voyages to the Western Seas: The Treasure Ship’s Log

Synopsis

Lin Guanhai, a liberal arts graduate from a top-tier university, woke from a nap to find himself aboard one of Zheng He's treasure ships on its voyage to the Western Ocean.

He thought it was just a transmigration, until he saw eyes beneath the sea that did not belong to this world.

The dragon qi of the Ming suppresses the four seas, and no demons haunt the Central Plains. But beyond the reach of dragon qi, in the wild lands of the outer world, ancient beings of the deep still breathe in the darkness. The nautilus, the vajra, the dragon turtle, the deep-throated one: they are older than dragons and predate humanity, scattered in the depths of the four seas, each guarding a gate leading to the Great Father.

The disappearance of the Jianwen Emperor, the Hongwu Emperor's vital essence, the ruins of the merfolk empire, and the Portuguese fleet that rounded the Cape of Good Hope and entered the Indian Ocean... Every clue points in the same direction: in a fissure at the deepest point of the southern polar sea, an ancient will that has slept for tens of thousands of years is stirring.

And all Lin Guanhai has is a fountain pen, a book of bark paper, and a task from Zheng He:

“Write it all down. Let people six hundred years from now read it.”
