Whatever You Want: the Magic Lamp

In 2037, a bronze magical lamp sleeping in the ancient ruins of the Sahara reappeared in the world. Whatever you ask for will be rewarded. It can fulfill any wish, but never explains the cost. Seven years later, the World Desire Research Center (WRC) was founded. Top scientists, jurists, philosophers and linguists from all over the world work together to study this magic lamp, trying to use science to decipher the miracle and use rules to defeat the unknown. They think that as long as they write their wishes rigorously enough, they can plug all the loopholes. But every experiment was successful. Every experiment failed. Cancer can be cured, wealth can be obtained, and the dead can even return... The magic lamp never violates any wish, but it always makes the wisher lose something more important than the wish one day in the future. Someone lost their life. Someone loses their freedom. Someone lost a loved one. Someone loses their identity. There are also people who finally understand the true price paid decades after their wishes come true. As the experiments progressed, WRC gradually realized that the magic lamp does not rely on miracles to create tragedies, but uses reality, human nature, law, probability and information differences to push every wish to the most cruel, but completely reasonable ending. What's really scary is never that a wish cannot come true. But it was implemented too perfectly.
