Welcome Home, Disillusionment

Some people say that there is no thirteenth floor in this city. At least, it has never existed in the design drawings of any building; it has been directly ignored in fire escape plans; and the elevator button will always only stay on the twelfth floor. But there are always people who claim that they have been there before. After those people came back, they became taciturn and kept silent about that experience. Not long after, they seemed to have evaporated from the world, leaving no trace. What's even weirder is that people around them quickly forget about them. Those people have never existed. No one knows where they went. No one knows why all the clues ultimately lead to the same sentence. "Welcome home." Tianyu always thought that it was just a boring urban legend. Until one ordinary late night, he took the elevator home. The elevator that was supposed to stop at the twelfth floor slowly stopped at a non-existent floor. The moment the door opened, he saw a dark and long corridor. The walls are covered with yellowed House Rules. And the last line of text, right in front of him, emerged one stroke at a time. "Tianyu, welcome home." At that moment, he understood. Some doors, once opened, can never be turned back. Some names, once remembered, can never be left behind. The real horror is never ghosts. One day, the whole world begins to forget your existence, and only you remember who you are.
