A Record of a Century of Events in the Two Jin Dynasties

This article is adapted from the novel "The Secret History of the Two Jins" by Yang Erzeng of the Ming Dynasty. The book adopts the storytelling format and tells the story of Sima Yan who ended the troubled times of the Three Kingdoms and unified the mountains and rivers. The prosperous age of Taikang was fleeting, and the century-old turmoil of the two Jins began. The clan seized power, foreign relatives disrupted the government, the Eight Kings Rebellion hollowed out the foundation of the Western Jin Dynasty, the Five Husbands disrupted China, Yongjia was in chaos, the Central Plains fell, Yi Guan traveled south, and the Western Jin Dynasty was suddenly destroyed. The miracle of the Battle of Feishui could not reverse the decline of the Jin Dynasty, and the ambitions of the Northern Expedition of the past dynasties often failed. This book breaks away from the rigid narrative of official history and uses the perspective of adaptation and reconstruction to connect the rise and fall of the two Jin Dynasties, unfolding the game of power, fierce battles on the battlefield, and all kinds of life in troubled times, and writes this century-old epic of broken mountains and rivers and tempering of civilization.
