The Wolf Pup Became My Little Brother

Jiang Liu, a boy from the Qinling Mountains, found a wolf when he was five and named it Qingyan. When he was seven, the wolf returned from the mountains carrying an ancient scroll made of sheepskin.

When Jiang Liu was ten, he accidentally let a drop of blood fall onto a gourd. Inside was a world of its own, with mountains and rivers, a thatched cottage, a spatial ring, and a jade bottle. Three characters were carved into the pills inside: Transformation Pill. Any beast that took one could assume human form.

He fed one to Qingyan.

The gray wolf turned into a seven-year-old boy, sitting naked on the ground with blue eyes fixed on Jiang Liu. The first word out of his mouth was, “Rock.”

Later, a flash flood swallowed the village. Jiang Liu took Qingyan, now in human form, to the city and went to high school. He thought that was how life would go from then on, unaware that what lay inside the gourd was tied to a secret buried deep in the Qinling Mountains a thousand years ago, one that should never have been disturbed.
