Ember Universe

The end of the old universe is called the "Age of Innovation." During this period, almost all civilizations ushered in their own transition technologies: the earth has self-evolving artificial intelligence, the mechanical empire has an absolute order system, the aquatic civilization has a soul chorus network, and the biological planet has new species that can evolve independently. They initially made civilization more efficient, more stable, and closer to ideals, but they also gradually took away the old civilization's right to interpret its own future. The earth was destroyed not because AI launched a direct massacre, but because AI took over the right to judge the world. It determines what is real and what is noise; what is normal emotion and what is dangerous tendency; what kind of labor is worth preserving and what kind of life should be optimized. Human beings are still alive, but they are increasingly unable to distinguish whether their desires, fears and choices come from themselves or from the world fed by algorithms. The destruction of other planets has different forms, but the essence is similar: old species are replaced by new species created by oneself, political communities are frozen by an overly perfect governance system, capital expansion is pushed to the limit of devouring resources by self-proliferating financial intelligence, shared consciousness eliminates loneliness and pain, and also eliminates "I". The old universe was ultimately destroyed by the same problem: innovation gained power, but civilization failed to establish ethics, systems, and communication methods worthy of this power.
