Maoshan Fuzong Biography

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the world was in turmoil, the Qing court was in decline, warlords were emerging, government orders were blocked, and military forces were scattered. Bandits are rampant in the mountains and fields, refugees are everywhere, and tomb robbing is rampant. Traditional folk beliefs and alchemy are still spread among the people, and evil and strange things happen frequently. When people encounter evil spirits, they turn to Taoists and alchemists instead of the government.
