Hunhe Is Angry

In the spring of 1939, Japanese troops landed at the mouth of the Hun River. In a small place called Lu Town on the plains of northern Jiangsu, daily life is as usual: farming, going to the market, collecting shoe soles, and grinding medicine. Xia Gensheng was weeding in the field and felt that the war was far away from him. But the noise is getting louder and louder day by day. In the early morning of February 6th, the Japanese army surrounded Lu Town. One hundred and eight lives ended in the sound of a machine gun fire. After his brother was beaten to death, the taciturn Xia Gensheng walked out of the thatched cottage and walked into Huang Kecheng's troops. From a new soldier to a Communist Party member, it took him six years to complete the road from farmer to soldier. The hatred of country and family was buried deep in his heart, and he never mentioned it. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Xia Gensheng returned to Zhujiaying and took up the hoe again. Every year on the sixth day of February, he would go to the Hun River and stand for a while. The river is still flowing and nothing is said.
