The Phoenix Sings of Love Across the Mountains and Rivers

Synopsis of Phoenix Cry Across the Nine Heavens: A Love Story of Mountains and Rivers

A young woman from Sichuan unexpectedly awakens the bloodline of an ancient phoenix. As she explores perilous secret realms, she uncovers a conspiracy spanning millennia and goes from clashing with a cold-faced War God to falling in love with him. In the end, she uses the power of women to rule the Nine Realms and protect all living beings.

Feng Qingyin is a brash village girl from Fengqi Village in Sichuan. Her parents have been missing for three years, and the village bully wants to seize her old home. At the brink of life and death, her phoenix bloodline awakens with a roar. Golden flames incinerate the demon beasts, and the whole village falls to its knees. The cold-faced War God Mo Yuan descends from the heavens and kills their enemy with a single stroke. As stingy with words as ever, he says, “You're too weak.” She fires back in the Sichuan dialect, wins over his stomach with hot pot, and recruits allies from Miaojiang over mahjong, gradually warming the block of ice until his ears turn red.

From the Azure Phoenix Sect to Miaojiang's miasma-filled forests, from the far northern Demon Abyss to the imperial court in the capital, she searches for her parents while gathering seven phoenix relics. At court, she smiles as she frames Zhao Yuanlang, then turns around to match wits with the empress. In secret realms, she kicks demon beasts flying and exposes a traitor to the phoenix clan who has been hidden for three thousand years. When he says, “I'm only protecting you,” she kisses him in front of everyone, breaking through his icy composure. Eight allies join forces to form a formation, and the phoenix's cry resounds through the Nine Heavens as they slay the demon god. Beneath golden tiles and red walls, she laughs as she turns the tables on those locked in a shadowy struggle for power.

Feng Qingyin doesn't believe in fate. She believes in herself. In this life, the Nine Realms will answer to her.
