The Qin Empire’s Secret Agents

In 207 BC, Chancellor Zhao Gao ordered his son-in-law Yan Le and his younger brother Zhao Cheng to launch the Coup at Wangyi Palace. Zhao Cheng: “Prince Xuan, there’s been a spy operating undercover beside my brother Zhao Gao for a long time. The spy’s codename is Black Ice Platform. Who is it?” Ying Xuan wipes the still-warm blood from his Qin sword. Hu Hai’s corpse lies at his feet. Ying Xuan says coolly, “It’s me!” Clutching his stomach, Zhao Cheng laughs. “You’re a member of the Ying royal clan. You helped my brother bring down Li Si, planned the coup, and personally killed Emperor Hu Hai. How could you possibly be a spy?” Zhao Cheng slowly turns around, his smile fading as he draws his sword and points it at Yan Le behind him. His voice turns icy. “If Ying Xuan isn’t the spy, then you must be.” Yan Le replies expressionlessly, “That’s right. I was the one who leaked intelligence from the Zhao residence.” Then he drops to one knee before Ying Xuan. “Yan Le of the Black Ice Platform pays his respects to the deputy commander.” Staring blankly at Yan Le and Ying Xuan, Zhao Cheng asks in disbelief, “Deputy commander? Who is the true commander of the Black Ice Platform?” Ying Xuan and Yan Le both turn their gazes toward Hu Hai’s corpse. Ying Xuan bends down, removes the jade seal’s ribbon from Hu Hai’s body, and fastens it around his waist. “From now on, I’m the true commander.”
