Fensler's Prophecy

In 1918, a German mathematician wrote a sentence on the title page of his doctoral thesis: “I believe that somewhere in the universe, someone must be speaking this language.” He mailed the thesis to Einstein. The reply was just one sentence: “Physically unnecessary.” Over the next two hundred years, his geometry was completely forgotten. In 2170, at the edge of the solar system, a dwarf planet named K-73 sends data back to a human probe. The gravitational equations have no solution there, shock waves jump to impossible locations, and all electromagnetic readings fail. The residuals are six times the standard red line.
