A Glimpse of the Truth

There seem to be more mirrors in this city than elsewhere. Not only glass curtain walls and showcases, but sometimes in the reflection of water after rain, or on the worn metal plates in the old elevator car, people will catch a glimpse of some fleeting details that are slightly different from the scene in front of them - there is an extra window, a missing figure, or the words on the sign have quietly changed their strokes. Most people choose to look away, blaming it on fatigue or a trick of light, an unspoken understanding that maintains the daily calm. They call this an "urban mirage" and develop a sophisticated etiquette of neglect. However, there are always those who are unwilling or unable to look away, and they are called "explorers."
