Spring Breeze Sweeps Through That Village

Chen Yongkang, a white-collar worker from the city, is forced to return to his hometown to serve as a village-based Party secretary. There, he unexpectedly reunites with Wang Jingyi, a former classmate who is now also a village-based cadre. After stumbling through an awkward adjustment, the two learn to work seamlessly together and lead a deeply impoverished village, where “the sky is clear no more than three days a year, and the land is flat for no more than three feet,” in exploring a path to rural revitalization that combines specialty crops, ecotourism, and new-media marketing. In the end, they not only breathe new life into the village, but also rekindle a love they thought they had lost.
